Campbelltown Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a welcoming entry point for people aged 16 years and over, and their support people, experiencing distress or mental health challenges to access support services.

You do not need an existing diagnosis, referral, mental health treatment plan, or a Medicare card to access the centre.

The support options we may offer include:

• Family support
• Care navigation

• Guidance in navigating the mental health system

Campbelltown Medicare Mental Centre is funded by the Australian Federal Government so there is no cost to access any aspect of the service. It is completely free and confidential.

During your first contact our friendly staff may; explain the services we offer; ask you some questions to set up a file for you; and offer to book your intake with one of our clinicians.

Your intake clinician will ask you questions about yourself to ensure our service is the best fit for you. They may also develop a Wellbeing Plan with you. This may include clarifying your goals, exploring additional supports, and discussing treatment options.

Peer Workers are people who have a ‘lived experience’ of mental illness. ‘Lived Experience’ is the understanding we get from having lived through something. This may be a personal experience of mental illness, or of caring for someone with mental health issues.

Peer workers provide empathy, non-judgemental support, work with others to assist them to build the tools for their recovery and can support people in different ways depending on the needs of the person they are working with.

Our Care Navigators support people by connecting them with services within the community, ensuring person-centred, integrated care. They remove access barriers, facilitate warm referrals, enhance care outcomes, and provide guidance in navigating the mental health system.

These clinicians provide support to people impacted by alcohol and drug use with co-occurring mental health needs. They provide holistic assessment, counselling, case management, group facilitation, referral, and harm minimisation. They can provide support with any substance use goals, whether this be reduction, abstinence, or harm minimisation, whilst being respectful and supportive at any stage of recovery.

Trained and compassionate family therapists provide Family Counselling services online and in-person. Family Counselling provides a safe space to address problems, hear each other’s perspectives, overcome difficulties, improve communication, and restore and strengthen relationships.

Campbelltown Medicare Mental Health Centre can access translating services to ensure our service is accessible for anyone.
